23 week old Silkies - are they ever going to lay an egg?

The free loaders have been here for a long time. The 2 Roos crow. The girls just hang out like it is a free buffet. Any ideas on Silkie maturity?

I have about 20 Silkies & I do not count on them to feed me!

Sorry, my friend, I hate to be the bearer of bad news... Silkies take forever to grow up. Mine were not laying until 7 or 8 months, if not longer. Remember, Silkies are to egg production, what maltese pups are to home protection.

My kids wanted them. Good thing I just got 24 chicks from the fair. All standard egg birds I think. Oh, and we have 18 laying hens now. I guess they will have to be thought of as decoration and hopfully good Momma's in the spring.
