23 weeks and counting...Our first meal from our girls!!

yea!
congrats.
it's an awesome feeling isn't it?
i just went out a little while ago and found our "fouth" egg - and i had to get the SO out there to look at it and fawn over it . . .
it's fun!

My RIR started laying and I think it was about 26 weeks, but only one, I have two.

I was given 2 Lakenvelders that were suposedly laying they were over 6 months when I got them and they are not laying.

Could someone tell me about squatting and red combs?
I do not know what that is. And what do I look for.
Thanks

Yahoo Arlee! I was just hopping on to see if you had any eggs yet! Congrats. How many hens do you have. They'll all start laying now. With my 5 hens I've been getting an average of 4 per day. That's plenty since I don't sell any.
Well, did you eat it? I felt bad eating the first egg.
Enjoy, enjoy!

Egg #2 was collected around lunch time today!! I THINK this is a different girl laying. The egg is much bigger and a pinkish/light brownish color where the egg yesterday was a very dark brown.

Whoo ooo!!!!!!

We ate breakfast for dinner tonight - scambled eggs with cheese and waffles.

I have to say, I know that everyone says that home-grown eggs are the best, but they really are THE BEST!! I was expecting them to be good, but they were absolutely AWESOME!!

The color of these eggs is just pure gold - amazing!! I'm so impressed with the quality of the eggs. I don't know if this pic does them justice....

We had a big fat breakfast this morning - 10 eggs collected during the week (ok a couple were eaten) but I managed to save up 10 and made scrambled egg with 8 and boiled two for my picky girl....

Unfortunatly I don't eat breakfast.................. so I didn't have any

I'll get my share.... OH and the one HUGE egg I collected last tuesday WAS a double yolker as I thought - that was exciting for sure

Soon you will be rolling in eggs. Your friends and family will love it.

We don't sell our extras we give them away. It feels so good to give
fresh eggs to someone who really appreciates them.

Congrats Arlee!

(If anyone does not know me, it's because I'm new.)

I hope my chickens lay soon.
