23 weeks and counting...Our first meal from our girls!!

Arlee, don't give up hope. Sounds like a lot of hens are just now getting into the laying mood. I say let's start a pool....
I'm going to say Jan. 14th. You can hold out. That's just a week away.....
It's been just about a week since my girls started and I have officially got 9 eggs in 5 days from just 5 hens.
You'll get it!

I guess Jan. 20th
Mine layed exactly 3 weeks from first squat to first egg, so I guess Jan 20th.

But I hope you don't have to wait that long!

Arlee, my BO, Clarisse was 32 weeks when I got my first egg. She started doing the squat about a week before that. I did give up, LOL

WE GOT THAT FIRST EGG!!!! And my 9 yr old son was first to find it!!! It's small but perfect!

I THINK the lady who laid it is Donna. She's had a very moist vent for a couple days now. I think she looks rather pleased with herself too in this pic:

I can't believe how excited we all were!! I'm hoping this is the start of many more eggs to find!

Congrats!! Are you going to hollow it out and hang it on next year's Christmas tree? That's what I did with my first egg.

Its always a competition in THIS house - who finds what first.....
My H found the first brown egg, and HECK is HE rubbing it in!

BUT I was the first to find TWO white eggs....

SO now we're all running out checking every 5 minutes - who will be the first to find a blue or green egg...

Congratulations on that egg! It's beautiful.

We're waiting for our first egg. Today we saw the squat and the kissy lips (both of which I learned about here!), so it should be soon. Our hen is six months old.

Wooo hoo! Nothing better than finding the first egg than to go out there and find another the next day!

We, too, pick and choose, blow the eggs and paint them. My daughter paints better than I. Then we put Christmas tree hangers in them, then loop pretty silk ribbon. They are gorgeous nestled into the nooks and crannies of your christms tree!

I wish I had taken photos before I packed away all of my Christmas tree ornaments. Maybe I'll dig them out and post some photos in the future.

Funny thing is, finding the eggs never seems to get old. Even if I get 10-13 eggs a day, it's still a treat
