I wanted to ask, do you mark the eggs or is it gonna be a big surprise??

I pretty much know what each breeds eggs look like so if he says one is one breed and I am certain it is not I usually know what breed it is. With my Barred Rocks and RIR I can usually tell which hen laid, the ones that throw me are the LF Cochins.
