24 week-old pullet - eggbound? maybe vent prolapse

Well, at least you're helping.

Have you looked for an antibotic?

What kind? Amoxycillin? We've got cat/dog amoxycillin if that's the kind needed. (Would it be okay to give it to a chicken?) It's liquid for oral use.

Have you emailed the chicken doctor? (Though he's slow in getting back...)

No I haven't. Should I bother him for being eggbound?

Would ice bring the swelling down?

She'd probably hate me even worse if I put ice on her rear end...

It's not as swollen today. Maybe it was just because she had lots of the egg right there at the end??

She is doing much better - up, I think she ate some food. There are quite a few "puddles" of the stuff in the cage, so it looks like she's getting a lot of it out. I'll soak her again this afternoon.

L,

I'm really not sure. I would look at the thread I have you and get what kind they used. Or even start another thread to find out. Be sure to include a link to this thread.

If she doesn't start recovering in a day or so, yes. I'd bother him with it

Or at least look on his site. He has pages on all kinds of poultry problems on there.

Humm, could be...
