I was just on this thread Tuesday checking to see who else besides me was waiting for their first egg(s). My flock of 6 wyandottes turned 24 weeks on Monday so I've been very antsy! Then low and behold I hear the "egg song" this afternoon at 3pm and to my joy....my first egg! The other girls need to take notes and get with the program!
Congrats!

What kind of chickens do you have? I just passed 24 weeks with my Lemon Orpingtons

When they were nearing 20 weeks, I thought it would be a good idea to get 1 year old Ameraucanas to teach the girls where to lay the eggs. And I want a variety of egg colors too. It was so exciting when the 2 Ameraucanas laid eggs. But we got a whooping 6 eggs out of them...not sure what happened after that. Maybe change in environment and then molting. I am hoping this is the case and the person didn't sell me older birds.I guess that is my Godsmack for being impatient
