Yes, that would be from me then. There was a friend of mine on the chinchilla forum that posted them for me since he belonged and I didn't. That was some rescue! I would never want to have to repeat it again!! You wouldn't have believed the smell of that many Buttons in a small garage in the July heat. It was horrendous!! I couldn't leave them there so I came up with a plan to save them all. I still don't know how my friends and I did it!

A bird rescue south of me took the last 300 of them. The guy that had them let them get out of hand and kept hatching eggs. I made him promise to never get into them again and took every last one out of there. The poor things were in cages that you couldn't see the bottom of the cage since there were so many. They were all bald from picking each and not happy campers at all since Buttons really prefer to be in pairs only. They are very cute but easy to let take control. You need to be careful in hatching these guys and not let it get out of hand for the poor bird's sake and their happiness.

The first auction I took some 2 week olds there and got $40 for 4 so people saw that and went crazy with them. I won't sale mine at auction now because of the condition they bring them to auction in now I know they don't really care about them. I only have 1 hen and 2 males so I can't really breed that many anyways. I need to get a new female but that's it. We hatch a few eggs but mostly pickle the rest so we don't have to worry about having too many to let them get out of control. People like that make me sick. I have seen them for $3-$10 a bird around here.

Wow our auctions in this state will not take exotics, no quail no pheasant etc, I am kinda shocked to see an auction will atually sell them.

How far are you from Binghamton NY? I sold all the chicks that I had but I have more due to hatch on Friday. I sold over 30 of them on our local craigslist for $5 each and I still have people contacting me for them. And these all came from the original 9 that I hatched on Nov. 2nd from eggs that I got from Marie Martin. Amazing how fast they mature and multiply.
