25 is too many for me to start with - what to do?

Also, Meyer Hatchery doesn't have a minimum order. I have 7 new babies coming on the 30th.

I had the same dillema ................. i ended up building a bigger coop and run than I originally planned and ordered 25 .................. my plan was to fry up (shhhhhhh ....... ) a few of them but now that we have them half grown .............. I think my wife has out voted me and we are just gonna have lots of eggs !!!!!! ........ 8^) ............. 5 welsummer, 5 cuckoo maran , 5 GLW,5 SLW , 5 Golden comets

I think one of the GLW is a ROO !!!!!

Those SLW are really gonna be pretty ................ I have to admit ............. these chickens have been more fun and interesting than I ever thought they would be ................... I really dont want to fry em up anymore either !!!!!!! .................... LOL

I bought 8 from Ideal last year at the end of July! (they've been joined by several others since then

I wasn't charged a crazy shipping fee and didn't get any extra roo's as packing peanuts.

i would see if local farmers have some or wait until spring for your local feed and seed stores buy them

I bought 7 from Ideal as well. They all arrived alive and well. I did a price comparison between them and MPC and Ideal was 10 dollars less. Also they will be a week old tomorrow and they are all still happy and growing. No losses.

Find your local feed store, wherever you'll be buying the feed your chicks & chickens will need. There you should find, if not baby chicks for sale, then a bulletin board where you could post a notice for chicks/chickens/someone to split an order. I'm in West Palm Beach, FL, there are many chicken keepers in our Sunshine State!

I highly recommend Meyer Hatchery. They have an extra shipping charge for less than 25 but they are really packed comfy. Nice bed and heating blanket under. All of my girls arrived today (having just hatched & shipped yesterday) and are just fabulous.
