You do realize you aren't even breaking even on selling the birds.
I am assuming you are selling to family and friends.

But I like your set up. I envy you your processor on wheels. Wish i had the land to do more than 25 at a time. Course I'd need the energy to tend them also, etc.etc.

With what # you gave and my feed costs and a 5/6/7 lb bird I figured 4 bucks a bird profit just off the top of my head

And guys, remember that this is not his first Rodeo: $2.75 is a good market price for us here! He likely buys his feed in bulk, and his equipment is not expensed out in one batch (will last many years).

Estimated costs per dressed lb !!!
-feed $.60 per dressed bird lb (assuming they will eat 2x their feed intake, and $9-10 per 50lb bag in bulk)
-equipment (expensed out over 3-years of usage) $.15 per lb with multiple batches each year.
-chicks: $.20 per lb (assuming 5lb dressed weights or $1.00 total cost per bird)
THIS IS about $1.00 per lb fixed costs per dressed lb.

Additional costs: electricity/mileage/vitamins if used/and his time!

I think that he should be happy with the remaining $1.75 per lb for incidentals, butchering costs, and his time compensation..

I'm seeing a pretty good profit.
Nice profit left after expenses, especially since I'm betting (hoping) they buy their feed in bulk. PLUS, you've still got chickens left for your own consumption, too!
