I am so so so so so so sorry to hear it. I've been watching this thread to see how it turns out. That was a tough decision to make and it took a lot of courage.

awwww i'm so sorry to hear about your poor ducky... Her infection did look pretty bad and you saved her from a painfil surgery and weeks of painful disabling recovery.

To prevent this in the future with other ducks, def take a look at their feet every so often or when you might suspect an issue. If you have anything hard they might be able to cut their feet on, think about removing it. If you use shavings as bedding, think about switching to pellets. That and clear out any spots they may be icky. That's all you can do.

I didn't think she would even live anyway; she was so thin and ravaged; even so called force feeding was basically a failure and actually upset her terribly..........
