I added 2 Easter eggers to the flock , they will be 27 weeks this Saturday. Very timid and hard to get close to. I got them at 16 weeks of age.
However this one appears to have no comb at all, no redness to be seen anywhere? Neither one is laying yet.
Thoughts????
The first picture is recent
The other 2 are back when I first got them at 16 weeks old

If they are part Ameraucauna, they will probably mature late. Mine EE are almost 6 months and just barely starting to turn red. The lack of light in winter may prolong the maturity as well. They also have a pea comb, which will stay short and flat compared to the more common straight combs. Hope this helps!

Here’s mine for comparison. 1st EE, 2nd barred rock (same age)

The first bird (the recent photo) is nowhere near close to laying. Lack of daylight will probably delay laying onset in these birds.

As far as being timid, if they weren't raised (pre-16 weeks) with human handling that's part of it. The other is their age, or more precisely, the fact that they're pre-POL birds, which tend to be more skittish and wary of handling anyhow. Most pullets calm down once they start laying. But if they weren't used to being handled they may still be nervous around you. You can try spending some time acclimating them to you though personally I wouldn't want to sit out in the cold to try and make friends with flighty teens!
