Very salient observation, Natchlaly.
"Lockdown" for me will be mid-morning on Wednesday the 25th, so I was giving all my eggs a preparatory, careful, attentive once-over, and I had to throw out one of my Ameraucana clutch last night, unfortunately.
It somehow did
not look right when I candled it (the "dark mass" inside was too uniformly dark, when held with aircell upright, the fluid slopped around in a "sludgy" manner...) and when I applied the "sniff test" it had the beginnings of a vague off-sulphur scent.
I removed it and set it outside in the cold, damp night.
If I'm lucky, some wayward crow or starling will abscond with it and suffer the ill effects of consuming its contents.
You've had no further untoward luck with your hatch-berries, I trust?!

Everything is going to plan

was due to lock down at 10ish tonight but as during my last hatch with the same breed my first chick hatched on day 19 have locked down a few hrs early. Humidity is at a steady 60% and temp between 99 +100
