27th or 28th May hatch, looking for buddies

Just had my fifth chick hatch! 1 yesterday and 4 so far today. They are all bouncing all over each other in the incubator now.

Still chewing my nails in lieu of popcorn here...no changes in the eggshell appearance (no pipping, crazing, cracking or zipping...) RH steady at 72%, temp consistent between 99 and 101 F.

Wish I was hearing little peep noises...at least then I'd know I didn't punt this whole process - but all things in due time, I suppose.

Glad to read good news posted by others though!

Hi guys!

Sorry to just post without introducing myself... My name is Becky and I'm a total novice, but trying my best!

My hatch date is Saturday 28th, I have 6 polish bantam eggs a friend gave me. He says he gets great hatch rates!

My incubator is a Chicktec vision 12. It's not exactly high tech but hopefully will do the job!

My last attempt had no hatches... But they were eBay eggs and the thermometor on the incubator is wrong

This time I have a new thermometer and it seems to be fairly consistent.

Tonight one of my eggs has been wiggling!!! Yay!!!

But I'm worried about humidity. I don't have any way of measuring it, but the instructions say to fill the water trough and let it run dry,
And not to add more water until 30-50% of your eggs have pipped.

The water dried out a few days ago I think, and I have had to open the bator to turn the eggs.
I stopped doing this on Wednesday.

Should I add more water? I read that most of you guys increase humidity towards the end. What do you reckon?
I haven't candled them either... So don't really know how they're doing

I don't want to lose this little wiggler!!

Hope you can help!

I don't know how I missed this thread until now! Today is Day 19 for me, and it is my second hatch. During my first hatch, I had my first pip late in the afternoon on Day 19 (an Easter Egger). I've got 9 Ameraucanas (Wheaten/Blue Wheaten and Silver) in lockdown, and I'm already anxious because there is no action yet. It's early yet. I must remind myself to breathe.

If none of your other eggs have pipped, it would be safe to take her out.

Humidity needs to be high during hatch. Add water.

Good luck everyone!!! Here's hoping for a great hatch!

I had to cull a chick today

He had about half his stomach hanging out, and the other chicks were pecking at it. Poor little guy.
