The parent birds have started on a second clutch of eggs and the youngsters they already have are only 23 days old. Is this very quick? I thought the current ones should be about 35 days.

It all depends upon the breed. My Birmingham rollers would start that quickly, but my homers were more like five weeks. Good thing about the rollers is that the cocks would brood the squabs while the hen sat on the next round of eggs.

Ireland and it's been quite mild here. Rainy, but mild. I've raised 8 hatchlings since Jan 1st. The birds are white racers, possibly Logan's.
This 23 day turnaround is a record for me.

Mine are on their third batch of eggs this year. 3 out of 4 eggs so far have made it. Im waiting on younger birds to get started and pair up. By summer I should have numbers climbing. I need a few more adults tho to create pairs and not have inbreeding.

Like you, I have pairs on their third batch and one pair on their fourth.
I think I need to section off the loft into hens and cocks. I'll certainly be selling young birds in the next four weeks.
