2nd Easter Egger laid its first egg today and it was....

Where did you get her. I think it would be valuable to know what hatcheries are selling "Americanas" (or however they choose to spell it) that don't lay green or blue eggs. Isn't that the point really? I know that's why I bought mine.

Even if they aren't going to sell pure Ameraucanas, it's easy enough to provide green or blue layers.

Since you're on the subject...

Of my two Easter Eggers, one is laying a brown egg (small) and the other a medium light green egg. When I bought them I was hoping for blue.

Do true breed Ameraucana (not easter egger) hens ALWAYS lay blue or light green? Thought I read that somewhere. But easter eggers can lay anything from brown to blue to green to pink?

Either way, I'll agree that my Easter Eggers are the friendy and look really cool.

I have 3 EEs from ideal pty. and 2 are not laying yet,but one is and it is a pretty olive green and she is a good layer...

Hi everyone! Thanks for the replies. I got the EE's from Meyers as they were the only hatchery I could find that would give us 3. I didn't want any more than that as we alreay had our other hens. But Meyers clearly says "the easter egger chicken." I would LOVE to buy a pure amaracauna. But I only want a couple, and only want hens. Now how would I go about that????? I would also love to have some welsummers or marans for the dark brown eggs! I just HOPE our third EE (who, by the way, just started to squat) lays a green/blue egg!

My EE's are about 23 weeks old now. The first started to lay at 19 weeks.
