Yesterday we got our first egg:woot, today our 2nd. This 2nd egg is smaller and darker in color than the first. I'm unsure if these eggs were laid by the same girl. What are the chances these eggs are from one girl or two? Aren't eggs supposed to get larger not smaller over time?

I'll bet it's from two. But more so based on color than size.

The eggs will get larger over time but it's not a direct linear line.

If you drew a line from egg one to egg 50 size would almost certainly increase but if you put a dot for each egg inbetwen those two you're gonna end up with data points on both sides of the line.

Hello There,

Congratulations for the first egg!! It is beautiful!
So... In my opinion it was probably laid by a different pullet.

If it was from the same, it can be normal for the quality to flicker on and off.
Every hen develops their own egg "style". Just my thought though.

Good luck, may there be many pretty eggs in the future! :woot

Sincerely,
-The Angry Hen
