I bought 72 eggs off of
ebay. Great packaging by seller, but tons were broken, lost over 30+ due to hairline fractures, or going rotten, 30+ clears... hatched 6 out of the 72. The seller offered to ship again, as long as I paid shipping. I felt like i was cheating the seller as it really wasn't her fault...MY incubator ..my inexperience etc....so I said no...
Second batch was a new seller..3 negative, 1 neutral feedback out of 10, one of which was my negative after eggs were shipped first class, though I paid for priority!!! eeek !!! and seller never responded... there were other issues too....and that seller, is no longer selling eggs.
Next time I need eggs, will be searching for BYCer's be it directly, or on
ebay... I am glad you guys ARE on
ebay... people deserve to have decent honest people selling them eggs.
Sometimes though I think newbies like me, have unrealistic expectations...afterall, we're asking people to ship eggs... heck sometimes I break my own by accident between the hen house and the front porch..but yet I thought I'd get 72 unbroken quail eggs, in the mail... And all would be fertile..airsacs should be intact etc etc.... If I ever venture into having eggs shipped agin, I will definitely have a better understanding of what can happen, what's normal, and what's just lucky
