2nd post - Best Flooring Material for Coop in the Winter

Pine chips with diatomaceous earth works well too, keeps everything clean, dry and good smelling without using any chemicals. BTW your coop is lovely!
 
I am loving the deep litter method! Just add some more pine shavings a sprinkle of DE and stir! I never have fles or odor in my coop! It's so easy too! Think it will be great for the winter. Good insulation for the floor and easy to care for.

Thank you! That makes perfect sense, and I was thinking of getting a few 2x4's to put up a couple roosts tomorrow. Yes, I'd imagine the stuff they treat wood with would indeed irritate their feet. Especially since treated lumber is often still wet with the stuff they soak it in when you buy it.
