2week old chick died suddenly.. help

My 2week old americana pullet was weak and mopin around today so we got her up and tried to give her a little water by a surenge. directly after she pooped a clear milky liquid and had some sort of seizure and died in my hand, what would of caused this.?

If it had a seizure it may have had something neurologically wrong if there were no other symptoms and the rest of them aren't showing any signs of being sick. It's hard when we lose one and can't figure out why.

She has always been smaller but i've heard of runts in chickens so i figured she was just a runt. i had another one, a buff silkie do the same thing to me she was about 5 months old. i figured they were runts and didnt get fed until the seizures. No other symptoms though... she ate and drank (i watched all the time to make sure) and walked around with the others until today. i was hoping some one had dealt with this before.

thanks... i wish i could have helped her. i debated on vitamins for a day or 2 but by the time i decided she would need them she was already 2 far along.


its sad but ill be more perpared for my next batch of chicks

yep...i think if she did make it i would of had problems with her as i did with my older "runt" chicken... my chickens bullied her all the time and i think this one would have been as well. they both ate and drank i just think they didnt get enough to stay healthy.


anyway im better prepared for next time and all my others are doing fine so hopefully nothing like this will happen again for a while

I'm so sorry for your loss.

The oldest "chick" I have lost was 3 weeks old. I have no idea why it died. I think sometimes they just aren't meant to live for some reason.
