So this morning I caught my Cayuga drake trying to mount my female.

They are only 3 1/2 months old.

I honestly didn't think he would be ready for this until around 6 months old.

I doubt my female will lay until spring, but we are suppose to have an above average temps this winter.

Is this something I should keep an eye on or am I just worrying over nothing?

Nope, it was pretty fast and I was inside and just happened to look out the window. My female, Daisy, squatted down and he grabbed her neck and climbed on top her, but it didn't look like he made any contact. She is molting so he did pull some of her neck feathers out. And then he walked away from her. It all took me by surprise, because I thought they were too young.
Now that I think about it I did catch her knocking down my youngest hen's nesting box (2 weeks ago), so I just put it in the ground.

My 3 month old drake has started mounting the ladies. Mostly on the water. The girls have started flirting and getting pretty demanding as well. They seem more interested than he is at this point. I feel kind of bad for the lil' fella. He's got his wings full with this lot. ;)
