Hi cabincrazyone. Thank you! My husband is an electrical and building contractor so he's got some experience

We have used lots of scrap lumber that we had in the barn as well as some that we had sawed up from some pine trees we had removed. We did purchase treated 4x4 posts and treated lumber for the bottom boards (that will be buried in the ground) and treatd lumber for the doors. Yes, the chicken wire and the welded wire rolls of fencing are 6 feet high... the overall dimensions of the coop are 10' x 40'... that gives us 4 pens at 10'x10' each. Yes, there is a BIG difference in coop design here. Not nearly as many people build completely enclosed coops this far South. We have to build more for the heat. We picked a spot that gets lots of shade and is protected from the North wind by the privacy fence you see on the backside of the coop.

We have lived in the South all our lives... don't think I could survive in weather as cold as where you live

The overall dimensions of the coop are 10' x 40'... that gives us 4 pens at 10'x10' each all under the same roof. The welded wire and the chicken wire we used were in 6' high by 100' and 150' rolls. 100' for the welded wire because it went only around the outside. 150' roll of chicken wire because it went around the perimeter and between the interior pens. The the front of the pen is apx 8' high inside the pen and slopes toward the back... the back of the pen is apx 6' high inside the pen. Hppe this helps

and pretty handy to have around. He really enjoys working on outside projects like this (he loves farming and he says the chickens are just mine... but he really likes them too LOL).

I will sure get more pics added soon. Thanks again!!

Hi everyone... I was trying to explain a little about our coop layout in an earlier post.... thought it might be easier to just show everyone. Here it is. Hope this helps
