3 Bully RIR

Hi, I just redone the inside of our coop with new nesting boxes and roosting bars. I added 12 new girls to the family and it was long over due. So far I’ve had to move all my girls to the roost bars every night except my 3 RIR just to find my nesting boxes full of poo and chickens perched on them. Finally I sat one night and watched them to find out my RIR peck all the others feet/heads till they either fall off or go somewhere else. Forcing the other 12 chickens to perch on the nesting boxes. How can I correct this issue?

Hmmm... Mabey build more rooster, and block the boxes off. How many roots do you have?

My simple answer is get rid of the 3 RIR, and your problem is solved.

I had to get rid of my commercial quality RIR...they were simply too aggressive.

You can try to add another roost, but if they are in the same coop, it might not help.

But that's my thoughts.

If your run is acute, you can build a mini coop inside for the RIRs.

I don't have production reds any more either, because of their temperaments.
So, more space, more roosts, a separate coop, hiding places, extra feeders and waterers, all helpful.
My last hatchery RIRs sought out flockmates to pick on, miserable.

Another possible option is to put up a divider on the roost, and have the RIRs on one side and the rest on the other side.

How big is this coop, in feet by feet?
Dimensions and pics would help immensely here.
How old are the new birds and how/when did you integrate them?
