In the Brooder
hey everyone! i haven’t been on here in a few months but i figured this would be the best place to post such a question.
i have a flock of 8 (5 are just shy of 16 weeks old and the other 3 are 14 weeks). they free range on my property until i put them to bed at around 4-5 pm (hour varies, but always before sunset). today i went to put them to bed, THREE of them were missing. THREE WHOLE CHICKENS DISAPPEARED! i did an exhaustive search of my entire property and all outbuildings. they were nowhere to be found. do chickens wander off? the three that went missing were part of my older group of 5 and they usually never split up. we have hawks, coyotes, foxes, and vultures (they will kill if they feel compelled) but we’ve never had any issue with them! if it was one chicken i could see it being a hawk or something but THREE? plus i have a toddler so i’m outside the majority of the day and i feel like i would have seen/heard something like that. anyone have any thoughts??? thanks in advance everyone!
