I have a hen that I thought got out of our yard but turns out she was in the coop all day. I moved her inside to see what's going on and below are the symptoms. I need your expert advice on how to treat her.
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) Olive egger, 29 weeks, 4.6lb, doesn't see lighter or thinner than others.
2) What is the behavior, exactly. Lethargic, not moving (didn't leave coop all day), not eating but drinking a lot. Runny pale yellow poop (see pics). Also looks like she's trying to push out her vent but nothing's coming out (see video). https://photos.app.goo.gl/5wqh2DQe7iKTkZ7s6
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? 1 day
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? no
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. no
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. Don't know, just discovered yesterday. Before than she's been healthy, active, eating, drinking normally.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Not since yesterday
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Runny pale yellow poop (see pics).
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Will give vitamins and electrolytes
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Trying to treat myself, I have Corid and safe-guard Aquasol on hand, as well as Chick'n aid vitamins and electrolytes. I'll take her to the vet as last resort.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. Yes, also added pic of soft eggshell laid yesterday. I'm assuming it's hers because it was inside the coop (not nesting box) where she stayed all day.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use. Outside coop is Omelet, bedding is America's Choice Medium Flake Poultry Bedding. Moved her inside with same bedding
