3 Cochin girls and one boy... or 2...

Hey lady! I hope your right! I remember thinkn my black frizzle was a rooster. @Tracetheroo bought her and then her comb started getn really red so she gave "him" to me until she laid her first egg! When i git sure of it i gave her back. Then she went off to college and gave me two plus their coop :lau

Moral of the story is that im not trusting comb color in this breed. Still hopful for us to have alota pullets!

To the OP: I believe your first bird is a Red Cochin, not Buff. :) But both the first two are definitely pullets. The last one is a cockerel. The White Cohicn I'm undecided on but leaning towards pullet.

To the poster with the Buff Cochin: It is undeniably a cockerel.
We.. me and mixedUpturk.. were thinking that she could be a red too.. she is not buff like my Orpington but she is not red like my RIR..

Well I tell you.. from what I’ve seen online about feathering.. only the “buff” one feathered correct for what they said a girl should do.. and the roo feathered correct for how they said a boy should feather.. but the other two feathered exact the same as the boy! So, you really don’t know I guess.. until they grow up..
And the whites feathers are quite interesting.. remember how we thought she was frizzled? I wonder if she is partially frizzled.. if that’s possible ... I’m gonna have to get a pic soon to show!

And feathering out beautifully i shouldve said!!! Forgot it was so curious how your combs are, and ours! Ours look like 2 pullets and 2 cockrels even DH was like "i thought u said..." :lau

Im positive now as @ColtHandorf said about that first gal, she is def Red; a great find in the TS bin Congrats again!

Idk if partially frizzled is a thing or not! Very interesting id Love to see more pics! :pop

Good catch Colt, I didn't read that part about her coloring being buff and agree that she is red. She is chestnut red like a New Hampshire Red rather than Mahogany red like your Rhode Island Red, WhoDat.

Have you seen the frizzle cockerel try to mate the silkie hen? I had a silver pencilled bantam cochin cockerel jump on his silkie "mom" and mate with her when he was only a month old. He calmed down after a while but it was annoying to see him do that. I wonder if that might be why she doesn't want him around.
