3-D printing

I guess my model is a little TOO good for the slicer. The slicer keeps running into errors. I had to switch to a different slicer that I used for my old Saturn 2 resin printer, now gone due to a failure. Also had to scale it down to 65% so it could fit.

It will take 7h 3m 57s to print on a resin printer, whereas with my current Neptune 4, it will take about three or four times that time.

I need to get a new resin printer if I’m going to print this thing.

May I recommend checking out the software Blender? Solidworks is great for mechanical design, I use it daily for my work. But if you want to get into more decorative type design work, Blender has the tools that SW is lacking. It frees you from the shackles of parametric design (and its free). Think of SW like machining metal and Blender like sculpting clay. I think you might have a better time with it once you learn it and will probably have less issues in your slicer when it comes to models like that

Thank you for the advice, I will definitely have to look into this Blender software.

However, it turns out that there were some errors in the design. It was not manifold. I spent three hours and figured out that I made an error by using the wrong function in a couple different spots, particularly in the head and base.

It took me a few hours, but I was able to fix those errors, and now it’s slicing just fine in Cura.

Here’s the new updated model.

I’m printing a test right now at 50% size, it will be done in a couple hours.
