Hi folks. I had a late chick hatch, 3 days behind the others. I put him in the brooder and the other two are chasing and pecking :/
I've separated the brooder in half. Will they be okay in a couple days or will I have to permanently keep them separate?

I will sometimes have a bully chick, the separation is good, it's best if they can see each other during it, give the new one 2-3 days until it can move better, than try putting them together again, start with one, than add the second a bit later, maybe even a day apart.

I made a little window made of fly screen in the divider :)
Thanks for the advice, I will give them a couple days then reintroduce 1 chick at a time

During the early days following hatching, this sort of bullying is extremely short lived. You can expect to put these chicks together probably in a day or two and they will have forgotten about their differences.

If one continues to peck at another, it's very effective to give it a poke on the back each time it does it. I've seen this work very well and quickly.

How warm? Sometimes those can make it too warm. I generally use a 125 watt bulb myself unless it's cooler out.

Occasionally I will make a circle with hardware cloth and put it around the troublemaker. I let them out every hour for a while. Sometimes I need to add food and water and keep it in there for a day or two.

I also always add some glass stones for the first week to give them something to peck at. I put them in the feeder and scatter them about the brooder floor along with some chick starter.
