I will be getting about 10 3 day old RIR bitties this Wednesday. Currently the weather in Southeast Louisiana is muggy and hot of course. The highs for the next week are mid to upper 70's and low 80's. The lows are mid to upper 50's and 60's. My question is should I keep a light on during the day as well as night? or just at night? If I decrease the temperature by 5 degrees every week, can I eliminate the light completely on week 3?

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Just make sure they can get out of the heat of the light and see how they do. Mine didn't want to be that hot after they were a week or so old, they were perfectly fine at 80 F. But it varies from chick to chick and from breed to breed. If they are spending most of their time away from the light then raise it, etc.
