3 day old keets eating bugs

I did not realize that 3 day old keets would eat bugs this early, but there they were! Mama was scratching up the bedding in the brooder and helping them find the bugs. They were grabbing them and running to a corner away from the others to eat them in peace and stealing them away from one another just like the chickens do. I guess since I always kept the chicks inside I never saw this kind of behavior, but since the keet and Mama are outside...Very cool!

Yeh, some how mine escaped from their pen at a week old. I was totally unaware of it until I spotted movement in my garden when I was out there. Fifteen tiny keets were in under the veggies having a riot.

I recently got some keets. And a hen turkey has adopted them! They are the cutest things I think I have ever seen!
