I truly truly believe that for the first week I take the crumbles and grind them smaller. I've had some hatches where the I would watch chicks pick them up and put them down. I've also had 2 hatches that 1 died on day 7 before I realized the problem, and a hatch of 7 that were flinging food all over and not really swallowing. After I grinded it up, they were vultures! I always do it now. I think crumbles are manufactured for average sized birds like Orps. But with smaller breeds, they don't sell smaller crumbles.

I totally agree that some of the feed is to large for cks. I have seen some peck and peck at it and their crop would still be empty.
"Chicken Little" is doing so much better. Much stronger and back with the others. Never knew what made her so weak that she could not stand on her own or even lift her head but force feeding and adding the vitimins and Duramycin combiation worked. Thanks for all your suggestions.
