I thought chickens wouldn't eat the oyster shell unless they needed more calcium? Isn't it too early for her to be taking extra calcium?

We have a big feeder with a feed labeled "starter-grower-layer" and a separate container of oyster shell.

She may have just been checking it our. Most of the time they never touch the oyster shell if they don't need it. Every once and a while one does. Do they have a source of rock grit? At three months it is early for her to need and be able to prossecess the extra calcium. Pulling her out and giving her a lower calcium enviorment is one option. But making sure she has a good grit availble would be my first effort at fixing it.
