My 3 month old Gold-laced Wyndot is acting off. I had three hens in a cage outside near my coop for my older hens but separate. One girl died virtually overnight. She was fine in the morning one day and dead the next morning. No signs of anything visible wrong. I thoroughly scrubbed the cage and everything in it. I moved it to a different area. And the two other girls have acted fine.
Now about a week later another one is acting sickly. I went out today and she wouldn't get up. I got her out and looked her over. Again, nothing visible. No mites. No injuries. No problems with her vent. She was kind of panting, but it is wicked hot here. They have plenty of water and food. The cage is in a covered area with shaded places to be 24/7 and sun for portions of the day in other areas. It is large, 8x4. Her breath doesn't smell weird or anything. Any ideas? Worms maybe? Can I worm a young one like this? Can I get that OTC at a feed store?
