3 unexplained deaths

If they are mixed ages it’s trickier.

If they are too hot they die.

If they are too cold they die.

That’s why a thermometer is important.

And things CAN go wrong.

So I’m sorry that you’re angry. I’m not attacking you. I was remembering you from two days ago. And earlier this week. And inquiring about what happened with those chicks. If a person post a new thread every few days about birds dying, I tend to remember it and that points out that there’s a problem that needs to be solved.

I put the thermometer under the brooder lamp i didn’t even let it get up to temperature before I touch the thermometer and it was hot to the touch so I moved the lamp up . I know this may have been the problem but I am just saying that that is how I had the brooder set up everytime and they have always stayed around it and have never had one die also like I said most of the ones dieing are out in the barn brooder where the lamp is at a good temp I tested out in the barn before because I was worried it would be to cold but under the lamp in the barn was 97 I will let you know in abit what the thermometer in the brooder in the house says we are having a major storm where I live I’m hoping the power doesn’t go out

The baby chick with the compound fracture is doing well he is hopping around eating and drinking I’m giving him amoxicillin some aspiring and vitamins daily and also eat boiled egg every day to make sure he is eating

Good, glad to hear. I hope he recovers and has a normal life with you flock.

I’m just checking on you this morning and looking to see if you’ve updated. I’ll come by later.

This is why we all have been asking you to check the actually temperature all week.
97 is boarder line too hot.
You probably could have prevented the deaths had you double checked the temperature on day one.

I also have one newborn chick that won’t open it’s eyes??
You can tell by this picture that it is not only too hot but over crowded in this little cage.

I can garuntee the deaths are NOT from the temperature in the brooder or I would have had deaths a long time ago I’ve had over 200 chicks go through this brooder and the one in the barn and have never had a single death these deaths where obviously from something else a disease or weak genes from other people’s chickens because I have been hatching other people’s eggs for the first time lately. And no the cage is not over crowded if you look in the whole picture you can see they chose to all lay together there is lots of room to be spread out the fact you take the time to comment but not be helpful should have you removed from this page . You are the reason people are afraid or ashamed to ask for help when something goes wrong and you do not help with giving any insight on what actually could have gone wrong so why are you even commenting please remove yourself from my threads I will no longer be using this site and use the Facebook page as people there are actually helpful not useless and rude.

Gonna chime in here. It appears as if the brooder is a bit too warm, all of the chicks are crowding the available floor space in what appears to be an effort to avoid the lamp. I'd recommend raising the lamp a bit and see if that helps the situation. Best of luck in your efforts to save these lil'uns.
Thanks and I did raise the lamp last night they aren’t crowded now it’s better
