My chickies are 3 weeks old today. I took them outside in a pen for the afternoon and they are having a great time -- squabbling over grasshoppers, dust bathing, flapping about ...
They have a snaplock (plastic) coop -- which up until today was in the shop as a brooder - without the top.
I put the top on, cleaned everything and took it outside --
so my question is -- do i need to hook up the heating plate for them stil at night?
There are 7 of them - 4 regular and 3 bantams -- they are all fat, active and thriving.
We live in the far NW corner of wa and the nighttime lows are 59F these days. If i close them up in the coop will that be warm enough?
They havent really been using the heating plate for a couple of weeks now - but the shop is a little insulated - not heated.
Pics because they are cute.
Thanks!
