I recently ordered for new hatchlings from metzer farms and very quickly noticed that they were lazier than my ducks I've had previously. But one in particular Doesn't get around much. At first we thought she was just lazy or overweight. She fell on her back a couple times which is totally normal I know I've had all of mine do it at some point or another. But as time went on probably in the second week I noticed that her walking was starting to become sort of what I would describe as lumbering. She usually only makes it a few feet at best and then flops down, which is causing problems because she can't get away from pooping if the others are eating they eat circles around her and poop and she will slide through it. I thought maybe it was a niacin deficiency, but 3 days into treatment and she's still getting worse. She is other symptoms that are really odd and I've searched the entire internet up and down for over a week and nothing quite matches this I'm hoping that somebody out there is familiar with her problem so I can get her feeling better. She's extremely happy, and talks to the others. But she doesn't mind being separated from them, and completely loves to be cuddled on, and has amazing trust for me. She will get kind of shaky as of her muscles are weak and then fall down. Her balance is terrible. She has this new symptom though that is is really strange - she will stand straight up really tall with her head crane forward almost touching her chest and everything will just freeze up and then she will topple over. Over the course of a few days though, because she trusts me and knows that I will come to her rescue and I'm never too far when they're awake and about (I'm keeping them in my living room because of the temperature outside until they're old enough). she will scream for me if I'm in another room and needs help, but then she started to do a kind of squeal when she locks up so that I know that it's coming and she's afraid of falling. And then a few more days in it seems like she can feel these episodes coming on, she will have this very faint kind of musical chirp and then stands up and locks up and then we'll be you know anticipating my rescue. Also, she has a bluish tint that comes and goes to her beak. The day I receive them in the mail the first thing I thought about her was well she seems like she has a touch of duck Downs or something, because she looked a little bit off - her eyes were not crusty but a bit red and and not fully open I don't know it just didn't seem quite right, but not enough to say hey that's a sick duck. I'm sure that there's more to add to this, but if anyone out there has any better direction to lead me and I would very much appreciate the help. She is quickly becoming very bonded to me, my kids, are parakeet who thinks he is the mother of all of the babies. And if anyone has any further questions so I can get get this little girl going then please post. Thank you

All of the symptoms sound like they may be caused by a vitamin deficiency and niacin deficiency. What are you feeding them? What are you using to treat the possible niacin deficiency? Are you giving them any supplements like nutri-drench or sav-a-chick?

@Ravynscroft @casportpony @WVduckchick what do you guys think?

Neurological issue can also be because of niacin deficiency not always but most of the time in very young water fowl.

I would start feeding Nutritional yeast asap or B complex actually start with B complex first then once you notice good improvement go to Nutritional yeast make sure the B complex has at least 125-150mgs of niacin. Crush the tablet and put into their water do this fresh each day. It will be fine to give to all your ducklings.

I'm feeding all for a starter Growers crumble feed. It's the same one I've given all of my ducks and this is the only time I've had this problem and it's just in the 1 - I have two Runners, Cayuga, and then the Pekin.
I'm giving her B complex liquid droppers into the water, brewer's yeast and water, and niacin crushed and put over her food. And it's been now I think 3 days up in her niacin this way with not yet much Results. Each day certain things seem a bit better While others seem worse and they go back and forth, and this is the first day of that I've not seen any new symptoms.

Possible nutritional imbalance or its neurological ...
in my searches I came across a couple of times instances that seemed fairly similar. How would someone know it's neurological? What would a vet look for to find this out? What is there a out there that can be hope for as a treatment for that and how much improvement would you see? Even with her shortcomings, she seems to be Definitely the happiest little thing I've ever witnessed. and of course, I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure that she has a happy life.

Does that bird have a slight crest on its head?
Meaning sticking up feathers?

I think you maybe over doing, try one thing for now the B complex and instead of in her water try very gently putting it inside her bill [never shoot down the throat] but just right inside the bill give her time to swallow then again till the dropper is empty. How much Niacin is in the B complex your using? and we can actually over dose them too so be careful. Using the Brewers yeast over their feed plus giving this particular ducking the B Complex would most likely be okay. I'll call on @Ravynscroft and see what she says.

Very odd... @Miss Lydia this sounds very similar to another members problem earlier in the year, doesn't it? I will search and see if I can find it...

Definitely don't overdo the supplements, that can cause compounded issues... I would just go with vitamin B complex as well... if you can take her to a vet, I think that would be best...
