$300+ for 1 silkie!

The one guy thats last bid was $277.02 has great feedback with no negatives, so I guess he is legitamately willing to pay that for it, but the winner is questionable. I can't imagine being willing to pay that amount for a chicken. Good Grief! I don't know anything about silkies either, but that must be a special one.

I read about a lot of scams going around eggbid recently. I think this COULD be a result as one of them. I mean, silkies are cool but $300 for one? That is very questionable. :|

Jay, they are naturally puffy. You don't have to brush them. I do take a little brush to the shows to brush certain areas to keep the shavings off them.

This is an old post, but I will add that it is not unusual for excellent quality silkies to go for a good dollar, especially when certain breeders have them up for auction.

I have seen people pay 200 for certain silkie eggs and that was for 8 to 12. Personally I couln't justify paying that much for one. I guess that is why it has taken 3 yr to get my silkies where they are now. ha ha

Hey all!!! First of all I know Colleen--from Peekaboosilkies, the seller! Super nice lady. I own three of her silkies. Gorgeous! Never paid that much though! Not even NEAR that much!!! You want to see something even CRAZIER???? Check out what this buff silkie hen just went for: http://www.eggbid.com/listings/details/index.cfm?itemnum=1209875341

LOL!!! That is CRAZY!!! We need to remember that as pretty as they are, under all that fluff, they're still a chicken!!!!

Have a great day!!!
God bless,
Tracey

As crazy as it seems... if I were looking to breed the BEST of the best, I would expect to invest hundreds into my breeding stock. Whether it's $300 on one bird or $300 worth of eggs over the course of a couple of years in order to get that BEST bird

You do get what you pay for

At the time, this lady had 0 feedback, so I e-mailed seller to see if they actually got the money or not. He said that he was worried about it too, but that the lady did indeed pay, with a certified check.
So yes, people will pay $$$$ for top notch birds. If you got the quality some one out there has the cash.

Maybe I should put my Marans on eggbid. it's pureblooded show quality all that stuff. I can't stand him. He has an attitude problem. Gold cuckoo might bring some money in. Lord knows we need it. How hard is it to ship a bird though?
