33 Eggs Due to Hatch Oct 25 (Hatch Complete)

Now I can't wait until tomorrow. You can see in that pic, we had 4 dated 10/15, but there were actually 5 eggs found that day. One was found in a place we had never found eggs before, under the leg of the goat staunchion so it's age was undetermined. I put it under a broody.

3 Eggs on 10/16, then only 2 today. So I'm expecting tomorrow to be a big egg day again. We have 3 Silver Phoenix Hens, 2 Cochin Hens, one Mottled Java Hen confirmed laying. One of the SP is broody now. So that's 5 Confirmed layers. I've got to set myself up an egg journal. I would love to confirm at least one Del as a layer, possibly both!

James, after you've culled down to your keepers, youll be happy you had all those to choose from, trust me. I did two hatches and chose Isaac from among 15 other cockerels. I kept all the pullets except the tiny girl who hatched late...and Yard Full 'o Rocks owns her and one of my cull cockerels. Got him hooked on this breed, too!

Since I had not candled all of the Dels since the first candling, decided to do it now, as we are going into Day 16 now. We had one quitter, so there are 28 still going strong. Started with 30 Dels, one did not appear fertile and then this one quitter.

She went to live with Yard full 'o Rocks with one of the cockerels I didn't use in my breeding program. We called her Li'l Bit and so does Scott. She was very sweet, but never grew to the size she should have, so decided to find her a home where she could be a pet. And she is very much loved now!
