34 Orp Eggs in the 'Bator - 16 Orpingtons!! Woot!!

hatch rates -

I started with 34 eggs.

18 BBS eggs - 4 clears = 14 eggs incubated = 8 hatched = 57%

16 BO eggs - 5 clears = 11 eggs incubated = 8 hatched = 73%

Statistics can be misleading though. Considering 20 eggs actually developed into a chick and 16 of those hatched = 80% hatch rate.

Whatever.

I am happy with this hatch. I have had many shipped egg hatches that result in 0 hatches. I'll take this hatch any day over one of those.

Again, Thank you both very much, Jody and Christina, for these eggs and the resulting beautiful chicks.

The baby that died was in a torpedo shaped egg. The first baby out was also in a torpedo shaped egg.

I am happy with them!!!

They are so cute. I cant wait for my chicks to hatch. I have sebrights, silkies, and mixed bantam eggs in the incubator on day 19. Tomorrow when I wake up im hoping for some pips, or even a chick(sometimes bantams hatch earlier than regular sized chicks). it feels like christmas eve. lol.

That is a splash, Did it come from a torpedo shaped egg? If so that is my largest hen/awesome type Big Mamas chick. She seem to throw a lot of splashes.

Hey, Chris, dear, dear pal, I think I may need some of those splash eggs, ol' buddy, LOL. Very nice babies!
