I have a 35 week Speckled Sussex and she still isn’t laying! Her sister started at 20 weeks, and she still isn’t even squatting. She’s getting top of the line care with her two other coop-mates, who both lay regularly. Is this something I should be worried about? It’s my first time having chickens, so I don’t know if I need to do something to help her along or make her happy. (My MIL says I should play slow jazz in the coop lol 😂)

It’s hard to tell from the pictures. A current full body shot may help. The saddle feathers aren’t pointy, but are different in the picture.
Maybe a roo? After having a butt kicking during integration, a non crowing roo?

There’s another post floating around talking of an early layer going to 33 weeks. Maybe just delayed.

Have you don’t the vent check?

here is one from today. She’s missing some from a dog encounter a few weeks ago, but I really can’t imagine she’s a Roo. She’s the bottom of the pecking order! But maybe. I am not good at telling.

I’ve got a 35 week Columbian Wyandotte who isn’t laying yet, either. It’s quite annoying. Her comb is definitely starting to fill out some more but I did a butt check and still only 1.5 fingers, tops. Been like that for several weeks.
