36 week Americaunas not laying yet?

My EEs started right at about 6 months, as I recall. My BLs, about 7 mo. Patience! But.. 38 weeks is over 9 months, isn't it? Whew. I guess they have to lay eventually! Keep us posted. We'll celebrate with you!:pop

I got two approximately 12 week old Americauna pullets in Mid-may, and they are still not laying yet. They are healthy otherwise, though way more skittish than my barred rocks. Could this be because they matured when the light was waning? I've checked the run and there are no stashes of hidden eggs.
Are you sure they are pure Ameraucana?
Maturing during waning light can delay onset of lay.
How big is your run?... they can be pret-ty-snea-ky!
May need to confine them in coop.
Might be time for an exam:

My Ameraucanas started laying about 11 months. Maybe it takes true Ameraucanas a little longer to start than it does hybrid EEs?
Yes, indeed it does!

My run is about 6 feet by 15 feet--there aren't a lot of places they could be laying. They don't free-range because my neighbors have dogs and they have already killed one chicken. I'm going to do a butt check tomorrow, and see if they look like they cold be laying. I do think they are pure americaunas, but I am not 100% sure about their age--I got them from a local farmer as pullets, but he wasn't sure if they were the 8 week americaunas or the 12 week americaunas (and I suppose they could be something else too. I'll try to take a pic of them tomorrow).
