Happy Anniversary, you, your hubby, & family are amazing. Your daughter is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your stories, pics, & all that you have contributed to BYC. You're an inspiration, uplifting, & loveable person. I thank you for everything, & I do apologise for any clashes you may have encountered. I can't see it you're to good of a person. Unfortunately it does & will happen. Once again thank you & congratulations

Hello everyone!:frow My name is Ms. connie. Today marks the one year anniversary of my membership here on Backyard Chickens. So what better way of celebrating that fact but by filling out the Newbie Intro Template.
Anyone whom already knows who I am and or what I do, sorry about the re-run..View attachment 1277758
When I started off on this site, it was a rocky start. Before I got to know some of the good folks, I had a couple of clashes but in the end the dust settled and even more friends were made.
We were going thru a record rain/flood season on our farm and BYC was a way to help distract me from the devastation and frustrations of dealing with the toll of too much rain, too fast and too long. After the rains stopped (kinda), sickness of stock under control, I became attached to this community and the good people within it. I won't mention of the good folks I clashed with, but thank you to them for forgiving me and excepting me into this community. One year later, I am proud to say, Thank you Backyard Chickens for having me.:hugs
Anyway.. I have 6 questions to reply to so no more..

Let's get started..:p

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

View attachment 1277778 Not new but I did start off years ago with a handful of egg layers. RI Reds/Buffs/orps. Real small, real easy peasy. Most of the older pics are on prints from 110 & 35mm. These are accessible for the moment. We had a semi portable coop giving to us and the rest is history. This is an introduction, not an interview. lol, trying to summarize the best I can w/o writing a novel.:gig

Then as my dear baby girl grew older, She joined our local 4-H Club & then FFA (Future Farmers of America), which was school related of course. Then the show birds came into action. Numerous birds, species, shows and even went out of the State once. Spending time with DD as much as I could. Knowing one day she wasn't going to be little anymore..
Those days I treasure the most. Spending time with our children. I could probably say, with out the kids in the picture, the chicken math equation wouldn't be the same as now a days.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
View attachment 1277849 Really? Don't judge my chicken math! I have some chickens here and there. Some are logged and some are semi feral. We have an egg house which contains estimated for this moment roughly at 90 egg layers. And 4 breeder houses. The largest breeder house has been recently partitioned and houses 25 chickens. Red Blue Splash Wyandottes/Silver laced & Gold laced. The other side contains Blue Australorpes.
We have a RI Red breeding house which I think 10 birds are in there right now.
We also have a Breeding house containing Mottled Javas.. a dozen I believe.
6 Buffs are in the 4th house.
I have a dozen free/tree birds that come and go as they please. They pay rent by using a nesting box provided in our barn. When the sun goes down, they go up, way up in their favorite tree. Don't park your car under that tree!:lau.
Then of course my 6+1 BYC chickens I hatched for my friends here on my favorite web site..(can be viewed here): New Year Hatch

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have been blessed to have what I/we have. 2 wonderful offspring, now in their twenties, a beautiful Grandson and a Husband who has been with the program for over 30 yrs.
We own & operate a mom & pop family hobby farm as a supplemental income along with an outside official occupation.
We breed Nigerian Goats and currently are maintaining a healthy and happy herd.
We also breed a slue of Heritage Pigs and maintain a steady breeding schedule. Challenging more than financially rewarding for the most part but the perks are wonderful.
Currently breeding poultry and mostly breaking even and trying to stay out of the red. As long as food is on the table, our family is healthy and the lights are still on, basically that is more than we could ever ask for.
One thing I would like to add, Backyard Chickens has helped me and my spouse come together closer, sharing different activities/creations/contests/ideas and mostly putting our heads together rather than drifting apart with awkward boredom.. we have become a team once again. I am thankful for that as well. Either it be working together on silly contests or just creating photography creations, sharing adventures and or daily activities, BYC has filled a void. So thank you everybody for putting up with my bla bla bla. :gig
I am looking fwd to more anniversaries and all the fun in between!
Stay tuned for my duck adventure..;)
