3D printing, I don’t really get the appeal.

So my son, (thanks to DH) got a 3D printer for Christmas. They are having a blast playing with it so that’s good I guess. I personally don’t really get the appeal, so DH tried to make it more interesting for me by printing this:

3 d printing is useful in, say, printing parts for cars. many small plastic parts can be easily 3d printed. There have even been 3d boats, organs, buildings and food!

Yes, 3d printers are useful. I've seen some plans for chicken feeder and waterer bases, which, if you used a food-safe plastic filament, you could supply yourself with waterers and feeders, or you could print and sell them.

I have seen bobbleheads made from 3d printers... Great gifts!
