3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatch!!

Mahonri-

I was cleaning out my egg-carton cupboard, and noticed I have started collecting your fancy-dance egg cartons. I have at least 8 of them, so when your chickies hatch, you'll have to pick up the cartons and the chickies!

You know I love everything you do. I was cracking up the whole time I was unwrapping them.

SO-- if the Icelandics start laying tinted eggs...perhaps my girls ARE laying, I just can't tell it yet?

I am going to hatch that little fart egg, darn it. And it will be teeeny weeeeeny--until it feathers out and it will 'splode with growth.

What day do I set quail eggs? I've got a lucky 13 to hatch and an empty little coop for them already!

ps I picked up a duck egg for free at the swap this morning.... I forgot to ask what kind! I know it won't hatch in time, but it was the only egg at the swap!!! I think I have a sickness... LOL

You got a bator running too? I'm really pleased with how mine is working on the turner level. The lower level is a little low, the upper level a little high. I'm not sure if this is a gage issue or legit temp difference. I do have 2 fans running so I thought the bator would be evenly temperate.But I've never had three thermometers ever read the same thing in the same place anyway. *sigh* I'm thinking

My humidity gauges have all been calibrated and I have one that is spot on.

Pictures later today.

I have 53

eggs ready to go!

This is my 3rd attempt to hatch with this wretched still air LG (? the sticker is missing. It sure looks like every LG I've ever seen tho).

The first time I had 100% The 2nd time nada, zip, zero hatched... *crosses fingers* something will hatch this time. I have to many eggs to use the turner so will be manually turning them...

Just out of curiosity which of you enablers will be coming out to help me build another coop for these chicks?!

I've never been to Oregon, I'll come on out. I'm terrible with anything 3D though but I can assemble when told precisely what to do. I also do not operate power tools (if you've ever met me, you know why).

And I have 18 eggs from Hot2Pot, 6 showgirls, and the 5 ducks that were already in the Octagon. Good thing those showgirl eggs are tiny. My pleading with the girls did nothing to turn anyone broody. Boyfriend did build a new brooder for the chick hatchlings, it's almost done, needs "windows" cut out of the top and side, then covered with wire and some handles added to the top. Here is is so far.

The other wooden brooder will hold the ducks, and I have a 75 gallon aquarium and some gigantic cardboard shipping boxes too for overflow.

Mine will only have 25 in it and I'm just not certain the temp is right until the new spot check gets here.

So total Mahonri eggs in bators

Laree=36
Meg -=42
Mahonri-25
Total =103

I'm guessing 36 chicks will hatch. I think the first three out will be Icelandic, Icelandic, Bargain EE, And I'm sticking to it.

ETA: I just went into the coop and caught my black star's egg before it hit the pine shavings. It's going to go in the bator.... 25 will go in now.
