I wish I had gotten some better pics of Thunder before she passed.

So here's Small Fry as my cutest chick hatched, my little singleton NYD chick.

What a sweet chick! Are you attending the Northeast Poultry Congress next week? Maybe you could find her a friend.

Oh, Dar, I'm soooooo sorry!!

I know it's a really risky surgery, and I was praying it would go well for you both. What breed was Fred? Maybe you can get one that was a Beta in a flock and less likely to crow? It's not the same as having your beloved bird, I know well.

Sorry, I know if you had gone to the effort of having him decrowed, he had to have been important to you, both personally and in your breeding program.

Well the 2.5 week old ducklings outgrew their 2x4 brooder.

I just put them in the 4x4 basement brooder.

They were also seriously stinking up my living room area (they smelled like cat pee to me, and it wasn't the cats), plus starting to quack, which was just not working for me when I'm trying to sleep down the hall.

They seem really pretty happy in the basement brooder, more room to run around in and... HAY!

My new years babies are growing like weeds, and really starting to feather out. The "smarter" or "braver" ones are starting to play on the roost. Pigpen still looks disheveled.
