3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatch!!

Just signed up. Not sure what I will be hatching since most all the girl have either been on strike or molting. Seem for the past 6 weeks I go out to what looks like a massacre and fortunately just find a half naked hen or roo.

Seems to be picking up in the past few days. I actually got an egg from the BLRW's pen and they haven't laid in 6 weeks. Would love for the coronation sussex and the Amerancunas to start to lay.

Well I certainly won't be short of places to shove eggs, looks like I've got another two or three broodies!

I'm wondering why I prepped the 'bator at this point, I'll be lucky if anyone is left laying by the 10th!

Ok... who is running (or would like to run) a contest for this hatch? Send me a PM please with what type of contest it is, what week you'd like to run it and any prize you may have for it.

Or if anyone has some great ideas for a contest, send them this way. We usually have some prizes offered up that don't have a contest.

I ordered my eggs today. It will be my second time setting eggs, and my first for shipped eggs. I still have to put my bator together. I might store it in my sewing room, as its not yet unpacked. DH doesn't have to know about this, now, does he?

Looks like I might have to jump the gun. The guy I bought the eggs from sent a (rather abrupt) note saying "its not a presale, your eggs will arrive long before then (Dec 11) Wondering how long I can hold off setting them??

this morning we set up the incubator (i got from my aunt this summer) to see if it still worked and my daughter looked at me and excitedly asked 'just 8 days right mom?' i'm so glad she cares.

i would like you all to know how naive i am

- i dont know why, but i truly thought that every chick incubated would hatch. my aunt used to hatch all the time and never talked about candling or duds or anything like that. and i always got there just in time to see the fluffy babies but never to watch the hatching. I NEVER KNEW!! so thank you for this entire website where i have learned so much over the past year. now my heartbreak and confusion wont be so bad on my very first hatch.
