3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatch!!

So as you all know, the past two days I went on a "bidding spree" for eggs.

I bid on at least five sets of eggs, all good stuff in my opinion, one I bid on just because of who was selling the eggs.

Push comes to shove and as of this morning, I was out bid on four of the five....

I REALLY wanted to order some Swedish Flower Hen eggs as I thought if I got a pullet, it would just make excellent eye candy in my backyard, but SO EXPENSIVE!

Then the wealthy Sheriff rode into town, with one minute left on the eggs she made the last bid and then tells me to shove the eggs over in my incubator because SIX Swedish Flower Hen eggs would be winging their way from KY to AZ!!

You know it's nice to have good friends. It's better to have friends that truly think of ways to make you EXTREMELY HAPPY!

Needless to say, for about an hour or so I was just OVERWHELMED!!

So the bators are comin' out baby!

BUT

Can you EVEN IMAGINE how I am going to FUSS and WORRY over such EXPENSIVE EGGS!
It's a good thing I'm taking quite a few days off of work in December.

LORDY, LORDY, LORDY!!!!

Time to get some valium. I'm getting knee surgery on the 15th and when he gives me pain meds, I'm going to ask him for some VALIUM, just so I can relax every now and then. Wish my friend in Maine could prescribe and send extras....

DW is at church and I can't wait to spring this on her!!!

I can just see her shaking her head now.

This morning she asks... and WHERE are you going to grow all of these chicks out and how many of the others are you selling??????

Time to start building a grow out pen on the side away from neighbors.

SO, I'll have 6 SWEDISH FLOWER HEN EGGS from KY via the Sheriff!
I'll have 12 + of Bargain's EE's with the Lavender Ameraucana roo over them.
I'll have as many eggs as Boston can get me that he doesn't use to hatch (ICELANDICS!) BCMs and W/BW & EEs
AND I'll have a bunch of test eggs from my coop to see how well Junior (Geoffry's boy) is doing with the ladies.

Meg and Laree will be making room for some of these eggs and some of the Icelandics will just be Laree's she's such a sweetheart.

It's the most, wonderful time... of the year.....

Get ready to rumble....

Thank you Jim!

I'm brand new to incubating, my broody usually does the job, and have been on a crash course to learn what I need to know. Clearly, there are gaps in my knowledge big enough to drive a Mack truck through!

Awww how sweet! Thanks for putting a smile on my face, too, Sheriff.

Can't wait to see these stacked incubators. Hope Daisy Chick is going to help us tetris eggs again this year... I'm a bit worried about getting everything in my octagon.

PS: I'm lucky the federal government doesn't allow me to prescribe controlled substances. I just couldn't deal with the seekers. I find very few patients in my clinic faking clots to get at some warfarin/Coumadin.

Well, unfortunately I will not be able to sit in on the fun this time around.. My husband and I have a part time job on the weekends and although I did pretty well, hubby did not so the money I made will have to go to the bills.. It really sucks because I had some BBS marans and buff orp eggs lined up and now I won't have the money until next week... Guess there's always the Easter Hatch...

...My little roo is doing good...EE's are squatting so blue eggs anytime now here. My test fertility batch is doing great. New hatching bator should be here tomorrow... Started collecting eggs for the designer swap to be sent off. Now on the other hand, I am totally blown away...man-guy says absolutely no ducks, so what does he do all morning...scouring websites about ducks and quail (because he wants)... looking at hatching eggs that are totally bizarre cost-wise. He moves the obsession to CL and finds a duck, so guess where he is...going to pick up a flippin duck...LOL...
