Only Kathy KNOWS how true what she says is. She's kept me company for middle of the night hours two Decembers and two Easters in a row.

Last spring we had an unfortunate incident with a dog that greatly decreased our egg layer flock

One of the losses was my only blue egg layer. She layed the prettiest large blue eggs, and while I was out cleaning up after the disaster I found her last blue egg laying in the brush under a willow bush. I had just set eggs in the bator so I put the blue egg in with the clutch of Icelandic eggs set earlier that day. That little blue egg hatched into the cutest little chick. Her daddy was apparently one of my silkie roos, and she is the cutest, sweetest little black chick.

Now she is the broodiest little fluffball with the prettiest little trilling voice. She is now in the brooder,

settling in for a bit of winter sitting...

Is there a prize for the cutest incubator?

well folks, i was eager to join the 3rd annual NYD hatch, but plans changed. yesterday when i went to pick up my new coop i met none other than BYC's own alohachickens who had many eggs in need of an incubator! i sat 42 aloha eggs last night for an estimated hatch date of 12/24!! i'm super excited and super nervous. and also sad that i wont be hatching with you all. there's always next year
