3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatch!!

Shipped eggs are kind of a mixed bag. I've had both excellent and disappointing results from eggs sent near and far. I liken it to eating out in restaurants. The big chains are predictable, but often times subpar as far a quality. The little Mom-and-Pop places can really surprise you. And sometimes the most expensive isn't the best.

The last batch of eggs I had was from cross-country and the hatch rate was 18 out of 22. This time I'll be lucky with 18 out of 32.

Dang... Now I'm hungry.

I wish I were still in on the hatch but I am cautiously optimistic about hatching emu eggs the second week in January.

Candled some of my silkie eggs. I had two that I could tell were clear the rest looked like they had babies because they were so dark i couldn't see much. I would assume they were dark because the baby was formed right?
