3rd bday is coming and I have issues... need help

That's a good idea. I'll look into that. We have a chatty family so there will be lots of catch up time since so many live so far away also dancing who doesn't like to dance! I've also thought about having the family members decorate a 6"x6" piece of fabric so it can be turned into a quilt. Or have them bring a special piece of fabric 6"x6" with a special message written on it for her quilt.

This is my mock invite....

I haven't read all the posts, but I have a solution for your stress....don't have a party at all. For our kids we had a cake and ice cream at home and they got to choose the meal of their choice. My kids each probably had maybe 2 parties their whole growing up years and those were not until they were in school. My grandkids on the other hand are having a party thrown for them every year!! I think when you have a party for the little ones the party isn't even for them...it's a social occasion for the adults. By the end of the grandkids' parties they're cranky and tired and I don't think it's even an enjoyable time for them.

Katy: We've never had a party for our DD even though I've wanted to we've decided not to. Since we are going to be RVing across the country we will not be seeing any family for at least a year/year and a half. So it is a way for the family to see her and celebrate her birthday.

My dd is dealing with her dh's parents/stepparents/grands/step-grands and great grands and step grands, step siblings and nieces and nephews. DD has 100's of friends who all have children the same age and then there is my DH's huge family and our children..At our grandson's first birthday---He got over 300 presents! Gifts started arriving weeks before is b'day.--as far away as Thailand. Dh and I chose to add money to his savings account, instead of adding to the craziness.. We buy for all three grands yr. round...

This will be his second birthday and in the invitation to his b'day party she placed the note:

Sam loves each and everyone of you... Because he is so blessed, with so many friends and relatives that love him. we ask that you donate to your favorite children's charity....Or bring a gift and we'll see that it's donated to a worthy cause... Thank you for sharing his special day with us! With great love and respect ......
