4.5 week old black cooper maran chicks male or female?

A bit early yet, but Marans often telecast very early.

At this point, I think you have 2 pullets. Watch the one that has the most comb. If that gets much bigger and redder in the next couple of weeks, you'll know it's a roo.

The BCM roosters I've had showed much more comb and were pinkish by 4 weeks. I did have 1 BCM pullet with a precocious comb like your chick shows. She simply developed early.

Time will tell.

Photos of a FBCM hatch at about 5 weeks of age....you can clearly see the rooster developing.

Please post pics in a few more weeks. I'm thinking one cockerel, one pullet, but they're young and it's hard to make out the details accurately from the pics.
